Crossing the Line

Mr. Chen was a beloved third-grade teacher who had always maintained a positive relationship with his students’ parents. But one particular parent frequently undermined his authority. The parent would question his every move, from lesson plans to grading, and make comments that bordered on personal attacks. It escalated during a parent-teacher conference when the parent became visibly agitated and said, “You’re not fit to teach my child.” The situation became heated, and Mr. Chen, feeling threatened, had to ask the parent to leave. He reported the encounter to the administration, and fortunately, they acted swiftly, banning the parent from future contact with him. Though the school supported him, the incident left a scar. Mr. Chen continued to teach, but the emotional toll made him more cautious in his interactions with parents.
